Ensight Eyecare was founded by Dr. James Barton, O.D. and is locally owned and operated. Dr. Barton and the team love the community and enjoy building long-term relationships with patients by providing expert, quality eye care in a warm, friendly environment.

James Barton, O.D.

More about Dr. James Barton

Dr. James Barton is a Covington County native who graduated from Straughn High School, Troy University, and the University of Alabama School of Optometry. Returning home in 2010, Dr. Barton began practicing full-scope primary care optometry managing everything from nearsightedness to macular degeneration. He is currently a member of the Alabama and American Optometric Associations.
When not at work, Dr. Barton is an active member of Mt. Gilead Baptist Church. He and his wife, Monica, have three children, Josiah, Tiber, and Barrett. They also have three rescue cats, Jynx, Marsh, and Orange Cat (named by Josiah). He enjoys hunting, tinkering with new technology, and spending time with his family.

Andrew Hartzog, O.D.

More about Dr. Andrew Hartzog

Dr. Andrew Hartzog, a Covington County native, graduated from Straughn High School before attending Troy University and ultimately the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Optometry. Graduating in 2023, Dr. Hartzog was honored to receive the Goodlite Pediatrics Award. Having worked at Ensight Eyecare during his time at Troy, returning as a doctor felt like coming home. When not at work, Dr. Hartzog enjoys a wide variety of hobbies such as lifting weights, table tennis, and painting 

Monica Barton

More about Monica Barton

Monica Barton is a native of South Dakota and brings a Midwestern accent to our otherwise Southern office. Monica grew up in a military family and moved several times before finally relocating to Andalusia in 2003 to be closer to her mother’s family. She graduated from Open Door Christian Academy and received her undergraduate degree from Troy University. Monica has served in the medical industry since 2006 having had the privilege to work with several different physicians in a variety of medical disciplines. She currently serves as the Chief Operations Officer at Ensight Eyecare.

Monica has also recently passed the Certified Paraoptometric Technician exam which provides a greater foundation for her work. She is currently pursuing the NCLE certification (National Contact Lens Examiners.) to better serve patients with their contact lens needs. After a miscarriage and infertility issues, Monica, and her husband James, were blessed with their rainbow baby, David Josiah Barton, on April 12, 2016. They were also blessed with two more boys: James Tiberius Barton, on March 6, 2018, and Arthur Barrett Barton, on May 13, 2020. In her spare time, she is actively lecturing in the optometry field.

Rachael Jackson

Rachael Jackson grew up in Florala Alabama and graduated from Florala High School in 2011. Rachael has worked in the medical field since 2013 and joined Ensight Eyecare in 2017. Starting as a lead technician, Rachael has recently obtained her CPOA certification and is now our office manager. When she is not working, she enjoys being outdoors and sightseeing.  

Kalyn Gentry

Kalyn Gentry is a Certified Paraoptometric and native of Pace, Florida but now resides in Andalusia. She has always known that she wanted to work in the medical field and graduated from the University of South Alabama in 2014 with a bachelor’s degree in professional health sciences. Kalyn is happily married to Albert Gentry and after years of infertility, they were blessed with their IVF miracle, Carolea Faith. Kalyn enjoys playing piano, going to comic cons with her husband, and loves watching Star Trek, Star Wars and anime. 

Reece Sheppeard

More about Reece Sheppeard
Reece was born and reared in Red Level Alabama. After attending Red Level High School through the 10th grade, she transferred to Andalusia High School. This was to be a part of a larger school with a larger high school band to explore her passion for music. Reece then attended college at LBW, Faulkner University.
After earning a bachelor’s in science from Faulkner University, Reece began to work in the Criminal Justice field to explore an interest in Crime and Law. One would ask how Reece went from crime to medical. The answer is simple: she came in as patient and she could never leave. She loved the environment as much as we loved her. She is a Certified Paraoptometric.

Reece loves animals and has 3 fur babies, Little Girl, Bibo and Baby which she loves dearly. If you see her around town, outside of work, she will have Baby with her most of the time. Reece is a great addition to our team.

Elgin Dampier

Elgin Dampier is from Naples Florida but has lived in Alabama since 2006. She graduated from Straughn Highschool in 2017. She has a daughter, Saylor (2021) and a son, Kolton (2022). She started working for Ensight Eyecare in 2022 as a technician. She is currently studying for her first certification to become a Certified Paraoptometric. When she is not at work, she enjoys being outdoors with her two kids. In the rare event that she does not have her kids, you can find her relaxing at home binging a good tv show.

Kelsey Worley

More about Kelsey Worley

Kelsey is a native of Gainesville, Florida. Despite having lived in Alabama since 2004, she remains a die-hard Florida Gator fan. Kelsey graduated from LBW Community College with an associate degree and completed her bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration at Liberty University in May 2017. Kelsey has passed the Certified Paraoptometric Technician exam in 2019 and passed her American Board of Opticianry exam in 2021 giving her a solid foundation to help you with all your eyecare needs. Kelsey married Ryan Worley in 2014 and they were blessed with a beautiful baby girl, Kaelynne in October 2016. They had their caboose, a little boy in 2023, Corben. They also have several animals in hopes of having a farm. When she is not working, she enjoys traveling with her family, spending time outdoors, and reading a nice book. 

Allison Dye

More about Allison Dye
Allison Dye joined our team in 2020 as a technician. She is from Andalusia and graduated from Pleasant Home in 2013. Allison is currently in pursuit of her CPO.
She is a proud mom to Lynnli Kate who was born in 2018. Allison loves spending time with her family. You will catch her and Lynnli by or in the pool, her and her father in the woods hunting, and her and her mother shopping. Allison loves to travel. In the summer, she goes to the beach as much as she possibly can.

Jenna Stanley

More about Jenna Stanley
Jenna was born here in Covington County and has since made her home in Red Level, AL. She graduated from McKenzie High School with honors in 2017. She married her best friend, Dillan Stanley, in November 2019. They welcomed a beautiful baby girl, Emmie, in March of 2022. When she’s not at work, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, motherhood, and being outdoors. Jenna joined our team in August of 2021. She works as our contact lens specialist among many other duties.   

Megan Holcomb

More about Megan Holcomb
Megan is from Georgia but has lived in Alabama for 13 years. She met her husband, Dustin, in 2017. They married in 2021. They were blessed with a baby boy, Lawson, in 2021 and a baby girl, Oakley, in 2023. Megan enjoys being outdoors with her family. Megan started with us in February 2024. She is currently working as a technician and has truly enjoyed interacting with patients.
